Over the past few years, we South 8ion. Not saying tribes weren’t having their differences but had a common goal and we all know what goal that was (Independence).
Once independence came we noticed a changed in our leaders, a change that cost us more than most. Moving forward in life it’s simply natural that the future leaders of our country will come from us as youths. With that in mind I would like to take a look at what kind of leaders we should aspire to be.
Measuring Leadership
An authentic leader inspires trust and loyalty in employees and has the ability to influence others and contribute to an organization’s success. And all that can be learned and assessed.
Characteristics of a good leader.
• Rejecting the idea of adopting a different persona.
• Being self-aware and knowing their strengths and weaknesses.
• Focusing on delivering results, particularly in the long term.
• Being driven by the organization’s mission and needs.
• Having integrity and are guided by morals.
• Being disciplined and committed to their own improvement and growth.
• Possessing high emotional intelligence.
Challenges To Authentic Leadership
People believe that authentic leadership can promote rigidity in those who use it as an excuse for not evolving their ideas following new challenges, experiences and insights.
Others also say that authentic leadership’s belief in presenting one’s true self, and not a persona, can prevent someone from being an effective leader.
